Where can I find a supplier of the NVQ level 4 in occupational health and safety practice.
I have searched the Web for hours. I have Dip 1. But cannot face those dreadful exams again and do a full time job.
Please can someone save me

Gary,
You can get a definative list of NVQ suppliers from City and Guilds or OCR. Contact details are in the Membership section of this website.
However before making your choice it is advisable to check the following from the potential course provider:
1) Your assessor is occupationally competent, this normally means that the assessor either has the NVQ themself or a similar level qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or HE Qual.)
2) That the centre already has put several people through the NVQ and that these have been accepted by IOSH for Corporate Membership. IOSH currently checks portfolios before membership is offered. Although the NVQ in principle meets the academic requirement for corporate membership, possession of it does not automatically grant membership as there are other considerations to be taken into account. (This is in fact the same for all qualifications not just the NVQ, although because of the very individualistic nature of the NVQ this is the one that is questioned most often)
3) Speak to someone who has undertaken the NVQ at the contre you choose, before commiting yourself, to determine what is involved. There is a lot of work for an NVQ and after consideration you may just prefer the exam route.
Having said all this the NVQ is a good route that has proved very valuable for many IOSH members. New standards are to be introduced at the beginning of 2003, again check with the supplier whether you want to do the new route or commence with the old route.
