A quick one for the experts in the Railway SG! We have goods trains entering our premises to offload metal waste and collect processed material. What signs should we or could we put up to improve the train driver's safety awareness and also comply with any relevant railtrack or legal requirements? Any comments re the relevant standards of buffers for our premises will also be useful.
Thanks, George Wedgwood (07836 718908)

George,
Railtrack indicate the permissible line speed at the point your connection reaches the 'main' line.
Obviously the linespeed within your premises will be determined by the quality of the trackwork, any curves and points, and the activities going on in the vicinity of the railway.
i would suggest that to get a fair appraisal of your problems I arrange a site visit from one of my firms (JacksonEve) track specialists who can advise you on these issues.
Please contact me using the link or ring 01708 765055.
Kind regards
David
