Posted By Tony Birchall I believe that as a result of a debate in the House of Commons, on 24th October, the changes to the regulations were signed by the Minister. These should be laid next week and come into force in November. The duty to manage (Reg 4) will have an 18 month lead in time period.

Posted By Jay Joshi There was a message e-mailed to the mailing list for the HSE Asbestos Campaign on this one on 25th October 2002 stating that the regulations were signed by the minister after the debate in parliament on 24 October 2002 and would be laid before parliament "Next" week--which makes it this week.It also stated that that there will be a formal press release and information on the HSE website. So, we expect a lot more information this week. Incidently, the full debate can be viewed on the UK Parliament website as under:- http://www.publications....24-27.htm#21024-27_head0

Posted By Tony Birchall Stuart, The original media event had to be cancelled, in London at the beginning of October, for one reason or another. It may be wise to speak direct to the HSE, either through a regional office or by contacting the Asbestos Policy Unit on 0207 717 6809. I am sure, however, that the HSE Infoline will now have the same brief.

Posted By Raymond Rapp Hi Tony and all, You may or may not be aware of a organisation/web site named HANSARD, which gives an excellent review of current House of Commons/Lords information ie who said what and when. This might be useful for the future, sorry I do not have the exact domain but I am sure you will find it on an internet search engine. Should confirm what you are after. Regards, Ray
