Posted By Graham Sargeant Can any one help to make some planned manual handling training I am due to present fun? What would be ideal would be some kind of practical exercise or demonstration that helped to get the point across and lightened up the course. I would be interested and most grateful if anyone has any idea or pointers. Thanks for your help. Graham

Posted By Jeff Manion I mostly train men, but women are involved. I arrive with a box for the lifting exercise, bottled beer (or similar), with few empty bottles that rattle, you gain some attention. I also have a little man purchased from S P Services 01952 288999 it looks like a man with a big penis, this "penis" bit is at the base / rear and shows how to lift - correctly/incorrecty. Difficult to explain, but raises eyebrows of all attendees.

Posted By David Scott Another way would be to get three or four different sized loads and make the smallest the heaviest (eg a box of ball bearings) and ask one of the audience to lift any box up. I found that almost everyone went for the smallest but heaviest box without going through the risk assessment process. Oh, I know that most boxes should be labelled with their weights but.......!
