Posted By Steve Hickey With regard to my previous question on, Muscular skeletal disorders. Has anyone got a MSD Policy which they would be willing to let me have a look at? I am looking to develop a management system within the company on MSD and think this maybe a good place to start. Regards Steve

Posted By Robert M Edwards Have you seen in the personnel section this latest piece in the Sunday Times on your topic? Send me your fax number. There are studies available from the work done in Japan and also case law lessons to be learnt for production lines. You are quite right in that risk assessment is the first step after analysis of records on sickness levels associated with the risk you are measuring and accident reports if any. Once this raw data is collected the next stage is to look at the number of motor movements in each process and this is time consuming ( concentrate on the high risk areas first to mitigate as you go). If you want to chat it through I am happy to do so, we specialise in risk reduction in Health and Safety matters and are keen to mitigate the loss of business production through MSD in working environments.
