We have collated our accident stats for 2002, overall there has been a siginificant reduction (40%) as compared against our 2001 figures. This is remarkable, but when we have examined stress absenteeism ( not all work related) we appear to have had a significant increase in cases. My question is, are we unique in this, has anyone else experienced the same trends, it seems that we are to transfer the day to day general accident stats to stress stats.

Stress is on the increase and you are not unique in this. We do not advise placing the stats together as the risk assessment procedures and your duty of care is fundamentally different in both areas.
We can forward you some stats and research ( independant) to show the trends and the way to defend actions against your company before they happen.
If anyone is interested they can email us direct and we will send them the information by way of attachment.
