I have an issue with regards to the above and would appreciate the views of the membership of the forum. In my workplace, as with most workplaces, there are issues of ventilation and comfort in the workplace. This obviously increases in a hospital where most areas are warm and some can be stifling, especially during summer. Some areas have decided to purchase water filled fan units that circulate cold air. Our infection control specialist has expressed concerns regarding the release of organisms including legionella from these units. My view is that this risk is low, if the equipment is properly maintained, and has to be judged against the risks associated with a poorly ventilated working environment.
