I am currently reviewing the different packages available on the market for receiving updates. I am aware of 'Technical Indexes', 'Gee' and 'Croner'.

Can anyone give me their impression as users of these packages (and others) and an idea of the costs involved with multi user access?

I would also be interested to hear of other packages available that provide updates covering international H&S law.

Many Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

My organisation is currently looking into the very same thing, so I'll be interested in any responses. I've used Technical Indexes in the past but personally didn't find it terribly user friendly.About to trial both Croner and Gee over next few weeks. I'll let you know how it goes!

As a consultant I find the TI package excellent as it has a very good cross section of material, with the British Standards element most the most useful.

TI have an option to link into Croners site which again is very useful - for me the most useful part is the legislative tracker which "keeps an eye on" consulatative documents and proposed legislation.

We have multi user/remote access - all relatively user friendly. TI were very helpful and sent one of their team to brief us for a couple of hours so that we could get maximum use from the package.

I have enquired about details of cost from our IT Dept and will get back to you. I know it's not cheap, but compared with the cost of all other manuals and books that we used to purchase it's reasonably cost effective. The the other problem that was overcome by TI/Croner was that we did not have to "book" a copy as the full text was available at any time, any place.

The TI package also allows a limited amount of copy without infringing copyright.

Regards

David

Further to my earlier posting

Apparently we pay £3800 for 2 simultaneous users to the full OSHIS and Enviro package. Trust this helps.

Internationally - check out the ILO website Safework section and subscribe to their free e-mail service.

Regards

David
