At first I thought I suffered from RSI, then I was told not to worry it was a WRULD and finally I am informed that I have a HAV. Is somebody out there just making up accronyms for a living?

Posted By LittleBG Dear Gavin Please be careful, HAV also stands for Hepatitis A Virus, according to the accronyms and abbreviations section on the www.hse.gov.uk site. Check it out if you are not sure about anything, or you may contract accronym-itis. Hope this helps, get well soon!

I tried to get a client to name their near miss reporting system as "Dangerous Occurance Reporting and Investigation System" but unfortunately someone spotted that they would have to fill in a DORIS and we had to change it.

Interesting,
I used to work for a company that had an Accident Recording System (ARS for short), and also sent out questionairres to contractors entitled Safety, Health, Insurance, Tax and Environment Forms (you work it out).

I once worked for a company that was divided up into Business Units. Each of these Units had it's own Manager and yes, once a month they had Business Unit Managers meetings. One presumes that they would really get to the bottom of things.

My Polytechnic (remember those?) employed Polytechnic Internal Security Staff OFFicers.
The firm of Hirst, Ibbotsen and Taylor was just known as H.I.T., until Shaw joined the company.

It sounds to me like you need to do a HIRAC (Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control) then perhaps consult with the HSEAC (Health, Safety & Environemnt Advisory Committee) as to your condition.
From there, speak to your HR (Human Resource) team about possible jobs you could do with RSI- oh hang on- we just landed back at square one with your acronym problem- DOH!
