I know that the terms "jokes" and "health and safety" are rarely used in the same sentence but ...
I am in the process of designing an EH&S Newsletter to go out quarterly. I could just describe the initiatives and show photographs but lets be honest, it would be pretty dull to say the least. I want to adopt a "joke" corner, something that shows we are not as dry and crusty as people outside the profession seem to think - can anyone point me in the direction of some good web pages I can get "funnies" from.

Some of the examples are classic examples of really bad ergonomic design, but looking at others I can't help thinking that the person who posted them must be a bit thick!

If you use the link on the left 'specialist groups' then click on 'public services' and then 'useful links' one of the links is 'safety humour' Lots of different types of jokes on their to suit most occupations.

Posted By Zoe Barnett Hello Hilary, you could also try www.forteantimes.co.uk - it's the site of the magazine of the same name and isn't a dedicated safety site. However, it is full of the bizarre ways people have managed to kill or injure themselves, which make good reading in a newsletter whilst still making a safety point. The site's also good for debunking urban myths, like the old "contact lens melting onto the cornea" routine. Excellent for whiling away a dull moment and amazing your colleagues with little known facts. It's also full of UFOs, ghosts and alien big cats - could you ask for more?!
