Posted By Barry Mageean I need to find information regarding minimum distances / size of openings in terms of guarding dangerous parts of machines. Is there a relevant British Standard or some other source of information? Many thanks.

Posted By Stuart C I posted this a couple of days ago in response to another query.
Whilst nothing has been as user friendly as BSEN 5304, the standard itself has been superceded by a number of european standards the key ones being:
BSEN292:1991 (parts 1 &2) Safety of machinery - basic concepts, general principals of design
BSEN 294:1992 Safety of machinery - Safety distances to prevent danger zones being reached by upper limbs
BSEN 1050:1997 Safety of machinery -Principles for risk assessment.
BSEN1088:1996 Safety of machinery Interlocking devices associated with guards - Principles for design and selection.
Hope that helps!
