Once again I'm after a little help with information I need to use for yet another NEBOSH assignment. I need to put a brief synopsis of the above standard in, I understand it has a bearing on the design of machinery equipment, and sets a standard in this sense but can find very little other useful information. I would appreciate any other information you may have to 'flesh out' the description, or links to other sites or resources.
Thanks again for your help.

BS EN 292 comes in two parts. Part one lays down the basic terminology and defines such things as machinery, reliability, danger zone, hazard, risk, risk assessment, safeguarding, guards and safety devices. It then describes the main categories of hazard found in machinery - mechanical, electrical, thermal, noise, vibration, radiation, hazards due to materials and substances and the hazards created by ignoring ergonomic factors.
Part 2 lays down the technical principles - reduction by design, safeguarding, information for use and additional precaustions. It contains the list of essential H&S requirements that were laid down in the European Directive, and you can access these free of charge because they are also published as Schedule 3 to the Supply of Machinery Safety Regulations, SI3073, 1992 - to be found in full on the HMSO website.
I hope this helps
