Posted By Ian Clay Is there anyone out there who is using these in their workplace. They are a TUC initiative which is hoping to use in partnership with employers and Safety Representatives. I am looking for examples of who is using them to put to my safety committe.

Posted By Lance Morgan I know that Unison are using these and examples can be obtained from their website. One of the reps at an NHS Trust i work for regularly issues them to managers much to their consternation.

Speaking as an ex Union Health and Safety Representative myself I had reservations about these Inspection Notices (they were originally to be called Provisional Improvement Notices (PINS) which our antipodean friend Richard may be able to verify, as they use them Down Under.
Upon its initial evaluation the safety Representatives on our course (TUC Certificate in OSH) debated the issue and thought that a basic level of competency such as the TUC Health and Safety Stage 3 or the TUCCOSH would be required before we were allowed to issue them, so they would not be devalued by employers.
As you are aware these have no legal standing and any items of concern could be taken up by the Safety Representative under SRSC Regulations anyway.
I think the idea was a good one but came in with a wimper rather than a bang.
regards
Lee.
