I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on measures taken in the workplace that can prevent the spread of fire or alternatively point me towards some publications that would be of some use.

Thanks.

You could also contact the Fire Protection Association on http://www.thefpa.co.uk .

Compartmentation is a major means of reducing fire spread (ie fire-resisting walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, etc) as well as fire-resisting coverings to floors, walls and ceilings, reduced fire-loading, etc, etc. Automatic fire detection and extinguishing (eg modern sprinklers) will, of course, also reduce fire-spread.
