Apologies in advance if this request is my usual vague standard. I am looking for information on the use and inspection of flexible containers such as Tote bags and IBC's.There is a British Standard that applies but has anyone got practicle experience of the use of these items that they can share?

One of the issues is exposure to UV radiation
I understand that on its own, polypropylene rapidly loses strength and becomes brittle when exposed to sunlight. The UV radiation in sunlight causes the polymer chains to break in a complex reaction.
The introduction of a UV stabiliser to polypropylene reduces this effect but it is dependent upon the type and amount of stabiliser used.
I understand that a good rule of thumb is that a UV stabilised bag, when exposed to sunlight on a regular basis, loses half its strength over a period of two years.

on a site where i recently worked we used platic IBC's, the biggest problem we had was filling them with warm liquid and then sealing them . you try and undo the lid when they have been stored out side for a couple of weeks, even using the correct tool for the screw top lids.

Look up a company called magnum worldwide or Interpolymer ltd. They are both the same company and deal specifically in flexi tanks IBCs etc.
They make a flexi tank that goes inside a 22ft container wich then transforms this into bulk liquid transport for non Hazardous liquids at half the cost.
They also supply and deal with the latest kind of 1000ltr containers similar to ibcs but much more space efficiant.
Im sure they may be able to help with whatever problem you have.
