We have a number of fixed access ladders throughout the site where the main protection for employees is a 'Hoop'

I am concerned as to what might happen if someone was to fall - I am not convinced that the hoop would offer much protection.

Having looked at a number of different 'Fall arrest' products I am struggling as to what best to go for. I am sure some of you have already identified this problem and overcome it and I would be grateful for your advice.

Regards

There are a number of systems/brands that you could consider.

One that I have used is the "Latchways Fall Arrest System"

This basically a vertically climbing steel wire/rope stretched up the surface to be climbed.

An attachment runner is provided, which is connected to a short lanyard and a harness worn by each person.

The runner is free to follow the person up the ladder but should they fall the runner/fastner locks against the wire rope (similar to the affect that a car seat belt has) and stops the person falling any further than the lanyard will allow.

Hope this is of help
