Posted By Lesley McDonald Any lifting equipment should be tested annually anyway ( unless it lifts persons and then it has to be tested every 6 months - correct me if I am wrong)by a competent person . Unsure about after repair or service although I would have thought this is definately good practice and as repair/testing/servicing is all documented it is proof that you have acted "reasonably" and acts as documented proof that the repair was carried out correctly should an issue arise in the near future. Posted By Barry Mageean Regulation 9 Thorough Examination and Testing Every lifting appliance and every piece of lifting gear must be thoroughly examined and, where necessary, tested by a competent person before it is used for the first time, after any substantial repair or modification and thereafter at regular intervals...
