How far can an unregistered lift-truck travel on the road before it requires a road fund licence and numberplate?

Posted By connah You will find that only farmers are exempt from taxing plant which travels on the public highway. up till a few years ago you could travel for up to 1 hour a week or about 5 miles which ever came first. all plant should be now be taxed for use on the road

Posted By Ian Minter As I understand things the simple answer is it cannot, as soon as it goes on to the public highway it should be registered and taxed etc.

Posted By A Fergusson I have taken advice of the Wiltshire Poilce and they inform me that the truck needs to be road legal but would not require a tax disc or registration, this was subject to our use being "reasonable", to go onto the highway and unload or to cross to units on the other side of the road.
