Posted By Grant Hutchison Liam Firstly get yourself a copy of HSG 220 Health and Safety in Care Homes, HSE Books. Good start point. In my expeirence the best way to tackle this is to break down the areas of the care home, i.e. kitchen, bathroom, toilets etc. Then you can identify the hazards, evaluate the risk and decide what controls have to be implemented to reduce the risk. If you are multi site then the issue of who is going to actually carry out the risk assessments has to be addressed(CARE HOUSE MANAGER), what traing they will require, support, information, instruction and supervision. If you contact me I could discuss further. Grant

Posted By Fiona Cowan Liam The Nursing Home e-tool is extremely user friendly and interactive on the osha site. Although for the US it breaks the home down by ares, tasks and people. www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/nursinghome/index.html. regards Fiona
