Posted By Anthony Slinger I was reading a document that had been completed by somebody with the letters M. Softie M. CIEH Dip FST after thier name.
I know that CIEH is the chartered institute of environmenal health, but can anybody shed any light on the other qualifications. An internet search has proved unsuccessful. Thanks

MCIEH = Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. I don't know about the rest, though.

Posted By LittleBG Hi Anthony
I think FST has something to do with Fire Safety Training, but I wouldn't swear by it!!!!!

Posted By Ken Lucas Some time ago I was a member of a society that was often referred to as "softie". However the initials are, SOFHT which stand for the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology. If you are a member you may use the letters MSOFHT.
Don't know about the FST.

Think Dip FST would be a Diploma in Food Science and Technology.

Posted By Anthony Slinger Thanks for the response. I thought that they may have been food safety qualifications. The person in question had conducted a workplace inspection of a coach operators maintenance garage and had said to the company owner "if I say something that does not make sense, please tell me" admitting their lack of knowledge and competence to be inspecting this type of undetaking. Some of their recommendations were less than practical. A case of horses for courses.
