Posted By Vincent Fagan Can anyone tell me how do you decide if a spill is minor or major, where you might get that information or what criteria you would use to make that decision? Does it depend on the medium affected and ease of clean-up etc? Are there any clear cut answers?

Posted By Thomas Kennedy I good starting point for you would be to look at the guidance on the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations COMAH). Have a look at a document titled "Guidance on the Environmental Risk Assessment Aspects of COMAH SafetyReports". It is available on the Environment Agency website. Similar guidance is available all over the web.
