Posted By Martin Redford Machine guarding is covered by The Provision and Use of Work EWquipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). You may also wish to look at The Employers Liability (Defective Equipment Act) 1969, and the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992 (as amended).
It's a bit daunting but should cover all eventualities.

Posted By stephen j mills Aine, You might like to see HSG172 Health and Safety in Sawmilling. This document covers such things as safeguarding of machinery, stacking, mill layout, welfare provisions, transport safety, controlling hazardous substances, slinging, etc.

Posted By Alan Hoskins HSE publish guidance on woodworking machinery including an Approved code of Practice. Basically though, all dangerous parts of machinery must be guarded. You should also be considering associated risks such as noise and dust.
