Does anyone know what the correct calculation is for machine guard stopping times, or where I can find this information from to print off.

If you ask your local electrical supplier for a 'Guardmaster' machinery guarding booklet there is a formula to be found inside the booklet.

The calculations are shown in BS 5304, however I have lost my copy.
I also believe it was supeceded by an EN standard.
