The new regs will bring the first action level to 80 dB and the second action level to 85dB. But as a safety professional I find that more and more EAR plugs are not being used correctly, this is because the users have never been shown the correct method of inserting EAR plugs. I wonder if the new legislation is a result of an increased amount of instances of hearing impairment due to wrongly used PPE? As an auditor I know that everytime I go to site I will always catch sight of somebody wearing EAR plug hearing protection incorrectly. Indeed this is happening so frequently I have sent our stores personnal on a training course for the provision and use of PPE to specifically address this issue. I also have it in our induction package and have it as a tool box talk, that is presented during staff H&S training. I wonder if any of you guys have any thought on this mater and of how the new legislation will be affecting your operations? regards! Brian
