Dear Colleagues,
Once again this time of the year reminds us that it is time to carry out a risk assessment for Santa, and the dangers of overendulgence during the festive season.
Seriously, the Moderating Team would like to wish all users of the Website Forums a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year.
Like the Windmill theatre, the forums "never close" and we shall be here in the background across the festive period.
Thank you all for using the forums so well and actively during 2003, and we look forward to viewing your contributions during 2004.

Martin,
You reminded me of an incident on Christmas Eve back in 1995 when Santa’s sleigh managed crash into our greenhouse!
It was a stormy night and he probably missed our roof because of this. We did wonder at the time if this was a RIDDOR reportable accident/incident, however we did note that he left the scene of the accident without stopping.
Fortunately we do not think that he was injured as he completed the rest of his work that night.

Is it possible that this site remains Christmas free and we concentrate on professional issues.
I'm sick of spoof christmas risk assessments and such like.
Also consideration ought to be given to those who do not celibrate or recognise the event.

Thank you for your Christmas wishes and the same to you. Hope all, whatever faith and religion, enjoy the holiday season and a chance to get together with families over the festive period.
I do not believe that this site should be Christmas free - even health and safety people are entitled to a little joy and goodwill - all we ever seem to get is the doom and gloom of life.
So, happy holidays, eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we diet!

I agree with you about all the silly Santa stuff, Jim but when it comes to the essential Christmas story, I am quite prepared to contemplate: external intervention; risk reduction; poverty; homelessness; life under occupation rule; despotic leadership; mass murder; refugee issues; peace; goodwill; self-sacrifice; and the other aspects of the incidents of some 2000 years ago that still seem to have relevance in today's world.
