Posted By Toby Hayward Can anyone tell me the correct formula for determining safe distance when carrying out radiographic testing? Also, are there any guidelines as to the set up of an in-house fire and rescue service? Including number of persons to be on rescue teams etc?? Thank you for any assistance Toby

Posted By Bob Youel T From your question it seems that you are doing this in house, if so your RPA / RPS should have this info. If you do not have an RPA / or RPS you should not be doing in-house Radiographic work so you should get one. Contact the National Radiation Protection Board for details. Your 'radiographers' should be able to undertake any calculations etc.

Posted By John Donaldson HSE have information on industrial radiography on their web site at http://www.hse.gov.uk/ra...sing/indradiography.htm. But I would refer you to what Bob has said in his response about the role of a RPA and their involvement in any activity involving the use of ionising radiation.
