Posted By Lesley Hibberson Legislation covering the general duties of an Employer are stated in the HSWA Sections 2,3,4&9. In this case, Section 3 applies where the Employer has a duty of care and a responsibility to those not in their employ (contractors, visitors, members of the public). These persons should be informed of any risks to their health and safety from any work activity. As far as procedures are concerned I unfortunately do not have one for you. However, from my manufacturing experience a visitor was always accompanied by a company employee who new the shopfloor and its safety measures. The visitor was advised of and provided with any information and/or safety equipment before entering certain areas. The risk assessments and conrol measures put in place for the areas a visitor is being taken in to should determine what procedures you should take. Hope this helps.
