Posted By Elizabeth Ashford Good afternoon I am appealing to any forum users who have experience or knowledge within the area of food packaging. I work for a printing company who are looking into a project to print the packaging for chocolate boxes. We are not food packaging printers first and foremost. I am wondering if anyone could advise me on how to approach this project from a health and safety point of view. Obviously food safe inks are paramount and keeping a designated working area clean etc. Where do I start? is there any specific codes of practice? Any advice would be grately appreciated. Posted By Mark J. Jones Suggest you contact 'Leatherhead Food International' and/or 'Campden & Chorleywood Food Research' for advice. Both are involved in food research/food industry research and advising the food industry on a wide range of issues. They both have websites.

Posted By Jason Gould Hi Elizabeth I was applying for a job earlier this week at an aiport catering company and heres what I picked up on. HACCP = Hazard analysies critical control points or something similar. Basically I think this is a food standard that all food suppliers work towards which part of it entails, the auditing of suppliers of packaging and those suppliers audit their material suppliers etc. I am not very clued on th subject as you may guess but a google search led to some interesting documents on the subject. For yourselves I don't think their is much difficuly especially if you are already doing a ISO standard of sorts (9002 etc) Hope this helps Regards Jason
