It is important that the training and qualifications provide the right background for those trying to improve safety in the construction industry which is why NEBOSH are trialling a specialist Construction Dip1 at present. I also don't class 2 x 2 hour papers, 2 x practical reports and 1 x 3 hour paper along with hours of study a backdoor qualification. It just makes sure that those that are Construction Safety Managers actually know about Construction Safety. Posted By Polly Begy I agreed with Samantha & Chris, I work in the construction industry & wanted to concentrate on my specialist area so I chose the Construction Cert as a first step. It is a legitimate route as agreed with IOSH & not a Back door qualification. If I want to work in another area then I will look towards Dip1 until then I will wait to see what happens with the construction Dip1.
