Posted By Hazel Harvey As long as the Construction Certificate is the longer one which encompasses the General Certificate and you can demonstrate 2 years pro-rata experience in health and safety. Then Yes.

Posted By gary k browning what a bloody con, go do your dip 1 like everyone else. otherwise you have no underpinning knowledge just like all those other construction safety managers who get their qualifications via the back door

Posted By Samantha Fisher I don't understand why you are so against TechSP membership for the Construction industry. It is important that the training and qualifications provide the right background for those trying to improve safety in the construction industry which is why NEBOSH are trialling a specialist Construction Dip1 at present. I also don't class 2 x 2 hour papers, 2 x practical reports and 1 x 3 hour paper along with hours of study a backdoor qualification. It just makes sure that those that are Construction Safety Managers actually know about Construction Safety. I also suggest you re-read paragraph 1 of the acceptable use guidelines for the chat forum.

Posted By Polly Begy I agreed with Samantha & Chris, I work in the construction industry & wanted to concentrate on my specialist area so I chose the Construction Cert as a first step. It is a legitimate route as agreed with IOSH & not a Back door qualification. If I want to work in another area then I will look towards Dip1 until then I will wait to see what happens with the construction Dip1.

Posted By Chris Abbott Just as a point - my post reflected the outrageous post by Gary - and was not meant in anyway to reflect upon the very genuine question posed by Marcus. Chris
