Can anyone please tell me what the accident incidence rate is within the construction industry? Or where to find it. I've looked at HSE stats but fail to see an actual rate given. i.e. I’m advising on the competency of a contractor who states his incidence rate is 13.4 number of accidents / number of employees x 1000. However I’ve nothing to compare this against to see if its good or not.

Hi Rik,
I would be more concerned with the actual severity of the accidents than with the statistical information derived from them. As part of my pre-tender processes i find ascertain what accidents have taken place, injuries sustained, causes and remedial action taken to prevent a re-occurence. if you are allready doing this i'm sorry for waffling.
cheers
