Posted By Ian stevenson TechSP Due to a site uplift we are having the bay markings removed and renewed. The contractor is burning off the old lines and as a result large amounts of fumes are finding their way into the building. Many employees are complaining of nausea and headaches but the site holder says there is no problem, he probably thinks the staff are just whinging. Are these fumes likly to be harmful, although I must admit the contractors seem quite happy to inhale them,I would dread to see their lungs. Regards Ian

At the moment, you have too little information to take a judgment on the issue. The nature of the fume will obviously depend on the line marking material. If, for example, it is polyurethane-based then you may have a problem with exposure to isocyanate. Depending on the temperatures used, you may have problems with more general decomposition products such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, etc. Find out more about the material and post the information here for further advice.

Posted By Lilian McCartney I would still check on whats happening and what's being used/produced if your Company is/has arranged this work.
The Contractor? doing the task should know and take necessary steps for the safety of the employees doing the task.
