I am in the process of training all the senior managers in their Health and Safety responsibilities, can anyone help me with example content of the training, or advise me on what HSE advice there is, I need something that will shock them into taking a more pro active approach to Health and Safety

I would suggest a good place to start would be "Managing Health & Safety, five steps to success" thats is available free on the HSE website. I wouldn't go for shock tactics (well maybe some) I would concentrate more on the benefits a good health and safety managemnt structure will bring to the business.

I don't think shock is the word but rather make them aware of what their responsibilities are. In our management training course, I highlight and give the attendees a number of case studies which clearly illustrate what their responsibilities are in law. I was amazed that when I started training managers a number of them had not known anything about what they are required to do in law, and I found that by giving plenty of good examples of prosecutions etc it illustrates this point effectively and makes them sit up and take notice.
