We have oily liquids being used in areas with smooth floors - the liquids inevitably get spilt to some extent making the floor like an ice-rink. Anything we put on the floor will also have to allow for easy cleaning. And a related question: is it worth trialling anti-slip shoes? Kate

Posted By Bob Baynes How about an anti-slip floor? Cuts out the mats, shoes and the possibility of someone not kitted out slipping, mat being moved, becoming saturated etc. We had a problem with dust making the floor slippery which we solved by applying an epoxy paint into which abrasive grains had been mixed. This was a purpose made product, unfortunately I cannot find either the product or supplier details now but presumably paint suppliers local to you should be able to help. It is extremely effective, reasonably cheap and long lasting.

Posted By Derek Rooney MIOSH MIIRSM The paint mentioned is one of the most cost effective ways - however you can also add sand to an existing floor paint (just as effective) this is what we done in our commercial vehicle workshop.
