What are the statutory requirements for testing of pressure washers and steam cleaners?
Is 26 months for steam cleaners (because they are steam pressure vessels) and the same for pressure washers (described in insurance industry guidance as other pressure systems)?
Does the machinery have to run above 5 bar before the regulations are applicable?

Any vessel containing steam (relevant fulid) must be examined under a written scheme. Other pressure washers with vessels containing water will usually be exempt from PSR 2000 as they will not generate steam but will require to be maintained as per PUWER. Normal high pressure water washers utilise a positive displacement pump and the pressure falls off rapidly when the orifice is opened - they don't fall under PSR 2000 either. However all machines should be competently managed and inspected in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction, have a risk assessment for their use and a safe working procedure that explains the method of use, and control measures to be taken to protect the user.
