Dear All,
We are currently working in an area of historic archeological significance. An environmental contractor has completed arsenic removal (a mining byproduct that became a product at the turn of the century) from what was a complex of buildings currently in disrepair.
Sampling has been taken but no report as to the OEL's that may be experienced as not all could be taken from site, e.g. dusts from the removal to the surrounding open buldings and area.
Any ideas would be welcome.

Sorry Paul, could have been a bit more explicit. I am looking for the control measures that could be implemented like damping down during repointing, tollbox talk prior to works beginning, PPE, RPE etc.

You have obviously given the matter a lot of thought already and you should have no difficulty in persuading people to follow the precautions as arsenic is a well-known poison! It is less well-known that arsenic is a carcinogen. It is excreted through the skin and carries a risk of skin cancer on chronic exposure.
You haven't mentioned it but I assume that you have thought of good personal hygiene to minimise the risk of ingestion when taking breaks.

Try getting hold of a copy of HSG 66 Protection of workers and the general public during development of contaminated land. It was first published 1991, so I do not know if it is still in print.
