Posted By Andy B Anderson One of my clients, an independant girls school, is currently laying an artificial sports field and I about to write a risk assessment for its use. Apart from the school using it themselves there are also plans to hire out the pitch to local hockey clubs, etc., and the point of what to do about blood spillages has been raised!
Has anyone out there gone through this particular hoop? Does anyone have anything generic from which I might start? Thanks.

Posted By Andy Andy,
My first port of call for this issue would be to the manufacturer and perhaps the installer of the pitch. They should be able to give you some techncal information as to the type of material and reaction to blood, vomit and other contaminants. you need to know how the pitch will react, what chemicals may be used, must be used. From this you can start an assessment of risks.
If the supplier cannot help, try asking your local sports centre that already have such a pitch.
Regards
Andrew
