Hi

I am looking for help on a dissertation I am currently writing with regard to violence within the Education sector ( towards teachers and other employees, not towards children).

Can anyone offer advice on policies, procedures and protective measures in place from their own experience.
I am aware of current HSE legislation but ideally would like information on where to look for both regional and national statistics so that I can possibly compare any differences within affluent and deprived areas amongst others.

Any guidance or advice on any other information would be brilliant or any other points to include within my project.

I am not entirely sure anyone as collected such statistics within the education sector as yet, unless they have been reported through Incident / Accident report forms...

What you may wish to do is look at the NHS statistics which should give you at least a comparison for the type of information you are looking for......... not sure of the website, but if you type NHS into a search engine i'm sure it will direct you straight to it.

Lesley - how about trying the TUC or even specific trades union websites - I am sure they will have some supporting material that will be of use.

Scottish Executive publishes regional statistics annually by authority. The Scottish Education policy and guidelines for dealing with violence and aggression are on the website too.

Also, teaching unions are highlighting the issue and have plenty information.
