Can anyone clarify what constitutes suitable welfare facilities for small construction sites, please?

We occasionally have to renovate a burned out / damaged house, in the middle of a housing estate. Because the house is burned out, it obviously has no welfare facilities within.

I have read the HSE's Construction Information Sheet No 46 which applies to facilities at transient sites (it talks of work at tranisent sites lasting typically up to one week). Our projects may last from 3 to 8 weeks, so this does not appear to apply.

I have also read the HSE's Construction Information Sheet No 18, which applies to facilities at fixed sites. This goes on to talk about all the facilities that should be available. My problem with this is that often there is no communal green to site facilities within a reasonable distance of the work. And where there is a green, sometimes, for shorter duration work, a full site "office" where workers can warm up food, change clothing, etc can seem over the top ( though a portable loo can usually be sited near the house).

Has anybody encountered this before? What is deemed to be a reasonable solution?

Thanks

Have you tried the small "Oasis" units they are small enough to be sited in a garden & cost about £ 300.00 per week to hire & they should give you all the facilities you will need.

Hope this helps
