Good Day Everyone,
Please excuse the content of this thread its not a pleasant one. I have been asked to draw up a system and produce a risk assesment for persons cleaning up vomit, this has arose after an individual had been sick on one of our company's vehicles, the individual informed the driver and produced a card saying he was a registered drug user and Hep C.
We do have systems/assessments in place for cleaning the vehicles, but I was wodering if any of you fine people may have anything else that may be of use to me.
Thank You
Tony O'Keefe

Tony, you may refer to INDG 342 "Blood Borne Viruses in the Workplace" from HSE Books, this publication is also available from HSE website(http://www.hse.gov.uk/)as a free download, go to "Free Leaflets" link.
I recently ran a course on this matter and included appropriate PPE, CHIP (for cleaning materials used),COSHH & RIDDOR.
There is a product available in a KIT form via ARCO (and other sources I presume)that specifically deals with such spillages, included in the KIT is a powder that forms a gel over vomit, blood etc. to reduce spreading/splashing risk etc.
