The Situation

Like many other safety advisors I try to keep up to date with legislative changes. Every month I endeavour to produce a summary of all the relevant changes and report these to the board of directors. I require the company to subscribe to various publications every month and scan most of these to try to ensure I don’t miss some important change that may affect the organisation.

The Problem / Challenge

Much of the information I read is often out of date, incomplete or too vague, wouldn’t it be nice if IOSH could produce such a service for members? I would quite happily cancel a number of other subscriptions in favour of just one to IOSH. Any suggestions? Or details of known websites that offer such a service?

The information is already freely available, from source (HMSO);

They have all the UK acts and orders, updated weekly and include a summary of bills going through parliament.

Try www.hse.gov.uk also worth subscribing (free) to www.healthandsafety-centre.net where you can elect to be kept informed electronically of forthcoming legislation, consultations etc.

I agree with you.

This is a service that Iosh should supply. The government service will obviously cover the minutae of detail, the other providers are operating on a commercial footing, whereas IOSH actually know what we need.
