Posted By Sean Fraser Reasonable - the time required is to allow the system to "bed down" and to provide you with real information feeding back into the system from auditing and management reviews. Good intentions need to be backed up by factual records of actions and activities, thereby demonstrating that the system is operating effectively, has identified weaknesses and opportunities and been strengthed by taking appropriate actions accordingly. P - D - C - A: Plan, Do, Check, Act, leading back as a cycle to Plan once again. A systematic approach.

Posted By Ed Carter Purely for my own interest, I'd be interested on how practioners in FE and HE might feel about this? I feel that it may take longer in that sector. Primarily because before '93 they didn't really appear to worry about it, leaving it to their LEAs,therefore in my experience you were very much starting from scratch with people that often had very little idea of H&S or their responsibilities in that area.
