Posted By Shirley Duffus We dispose of household waste and have suddenly experienced several dump sites around the UK requesting that we produce certificates of some kind at the time of dumping. Do we design this in-house or is there a standard form that we need to use?

Posted By Emma Forbes The only kind of form that I could think that you would need is a waste transfer note or duty of care - it's been so long since I dealt with anything like that but EPA/SEPA may be able to guide you in the right direction.......

Posted By Dave Wilson Household waste comes from a 'private dwelling' any other waste not from a private household is commercial / industrial waste and will require the documentation provided by the waste producer and / or waste carrier. This can be done 'annually' if the waste is only commercial waste and does not have any 'special' properties. I think. Bit slow at the moment been off for a while (hip joint resurfacing) thank you Royal Marines!

Posted By Richard Fisher Hello there, If you carry any waste (including household waste) which isn't from your own property, i.e. third party waste, you will require a waste carrier's licence by the Environment Agency, unless you are a Local Authority. By having this you will need to cover yourself for each load of waste you carry. This will have to be done by the production of a Controlled Waste Transfer Note in accordance with the Duty of Care Regulations. All disposal / transfer sites will require this notice as part of their waste acceptance criteria. I would suggest that you contact your local office of the Environment Agency for their advice. The national number is 08708 506506. Hope this helps, Richard

Posted By Shirley Duffus Thanks Richard and Dave. (Not Dave Wilson from the Strathclyde Uni PSg course?) I contacted the local EPA and we have deisgned a be-spoke Waste Transfer Note which should be accpeted UK wide. It is going into use this month, so hopefull we will have no more rejections at the dump site. You try getting rid of old sofas and bags of rubbish - it's not easy and bin men are not happy. Cheers Shirley D
