Colin,

Fire risk assessment in all but the simplest of buildings is really a specialist activity.

Filling in a form used by others may, wrongly, lead you to believe that you have done all that is necessary to comply with legislation. However, the legislation dictates that you must be competent to carry out the risk assessment.

Although I am sure you are competent to carry out the risk assessment it may be worth investigating further what skills, qualification etc are being sought by the enforcing authorities when they are considering whether a risk assessment has been carried out competently by a competent person.

National Britannia have several ex-fire brigade officers carrying fire risk assessments on behalf of our clients everyday.

Wouldn't it be worth having such expertise on board to carry out the assessments on your behalf? You will have peace of mind knowing that the assessment is of the highest quality and that competency will never be called into question?
