I would be grateful if someone would give me a website or company name for the New NEBOSH level 4 diploma (predom. distance learning)((everything included)) that doesn't make my eyes stick out on stalks at the price!!!!
I read on this forum of prices around £1100 - no names included
Thanks in advance

It may not be cheapest to go with the cheapest provider. I did that for Dip 1 and as well as hidden costs not included in the headline price I ended up spending a fortune on books to make up for the lack of comprehensive course material. Also resits work out expensive. Go for quality. The providers are listed on the Nebosh website.

You can't go wrong with RRC if it's distance learning you're after.
Comprehensive course notes, law guide, e-learning site, chat forums, access to HSE Direct, 20+ tutors to call or email.
Drop me a line if you want more info.
Kind regards
Nick

Thanks for your advice. I take it you have personal experience of RRC?

What sort of hidden extras should I be aware of? Do you recommend a provider.

Martin,
I have also had recent experience with RRC. I've just finished my Dip1 in June distance learning. Although I nearly passed out when the notes arrived (7 fat folders worth) they were thorough, and I didn't need to buy any books etc as they covered everything I needed to know and more. There are numberous support systems, so you're bound to find one that suits your style of learning. There are tutors who you can call, workshops you can attend (at extra cost though), on-line help, notes in cd format, an on-line support forum where you can chat to other students. One of the most useful folders was a law guide, which breaks down every regulation under the sun to a few pages - invaluable even when you're finished the course. Nearer the exam you can purchase revision booklets which weren't too much, about £10. Instead of reading through the notes I started with the examiner's reports from previous exams which gave the questions and answers (again about £6 each, but if you become friendly with others on the course you can share the cost). I read the appropriate part of the syllabus, answered the question, then read the answer which usually gave me a few pointers as to how to pick up those valuable extra marks. I ended up covering almost all the syllabus using this method and most importantly I actually remembered what I'd read! I would recommend RRC, but good luck with it however you decide to do it.

The extra money (apart from books) went on registering with Nebosh, the e*@m fee (paid to Nebosh), and travelling to tutorials (it was distance learning but with one tutorial per module) and travelling to the e*@ms with an overnight stay.
Suffice to say if I do Dip 2 I have already decided to switch to RRC after hearing good things in the Study Support Forum downstairs about their course materials. In fact I seem to remember one person complaining that the course materials were too lengthy. Suits me.
