Hi All

When the LEA wants to do an H&S inspection they have/use a pro forma - tick in the box job. I've read the guidance 'what to expect when an inspector calls' but that's not what I'm after.

Would anyone know how to lay their hands on one?

Thanks Paul

Last time I had an LEA H&S inspection, they sent a pre-visit letter with accompanying guidance sheets that gave details of what they expected to see. It runs into about 9 pages. If you don't manage to get a copy of the "tick box" list then I could fax you a copy of this (I only have a paper copy) if you send me your fax number.

Hi,

National Britannia can complete independant audits and reveiws of your health and safety system. The type of audit can range from a full Corporate Audit to a Compliance Audit.

The Compliance Audit serves to ensure that all compliance issues are effectively taken care of to the relevant standard and, of course, where they are not we will be able to provide prioritised actions and recommendations.

With most of our consultants being ex-enforcement officers (ex EHOs or ex HSE inspectorate)anything an enforcement officer would focus on we would also focus on(as our consultants have been given the same training and have the same experience and so on)thus making sure nothing is missed.

We can provide you with the peace of mind knowing that you have 'all the bases covered'. This is especially important in todays world where we are hearing more and more of safety professionals being brought before the judge, following the enforcement authority's decision to instigate proceedings against the individual together with the organisation.

Why wait unil you have had a visit from the enforcing authority, when whatever problems they find, they may act upon. Find the problems first(if any)and ensure they are corrected. So, there will be no need to worry about what they are looking for anymore.

For more information about National Britannia's services please do not hesitate to contact me at kevin_west@natbrit.com

Paul, have you tried to get one from the enforcing authority, I am sure it wouldnt be a problem.

LA's are duty bound by Section 18 of the HASAWA to be open with employers. Also you are entitled to a copy of their Enforcement Policy if you so wish.

Nice advert Kevin.
Like most ads there was no mention of cost.

Peter's right. Talk to them most of them are ok if you approach them rather than them approaching you.

If you use the link below, it will give you the HSE Guidance called " What to expect when a health and safety inspector calls".

Hi All

When looking at vehicle/pedestrian segregation in the workplace does anyone know where I can find measurements of the lanes etc.

Workplace regs mention suitable and sufficient but I can remember reading soemthing with a diagram showing examples of pedestrian/vehicle routes and I can't remember ( I think it was during my NGC)

I know they are somewhere but I need pointing the right direction!!

Tick boxes are not used on a national basis. My advice is to concentrate on HSE's 5 priority topics: 1, MSDs 2, workplace transport 3, Slips trips and falls 4, working at height and 5, stress. Get "Take a fresh look at health and safety" from HSE BooKs to see the performance measures inspectors will use for each topic.

Please stop the less than subtle advertising, you have been told in the recent past by the Moderator that the best way to contact someone is via email direct and NOT on these discussion boards.

You are in grave danger of dragging our fine profession to the level of "door to door salesman", which nobody wants.

Your pitch is not only unwanted on these boards but smacks of desperation if you think this is an acceptable way of drumming up business.

By all means offer help and support but please quit the blatant advertising.

By the way do you know where Paul can get hold of one of the forms he was asking about? or not?

Regards,
Mark
