Folks,
I dont want to re-invent the wheel so I have hoping that someone in the profession has documentation tht they would be willing to share with me.
My employers have just finished building student flats and are handing them over to the administrator next week. the prblem is this: No-one has thought of providing the students with a file relating to emergency evacuation. Even though this is not within my job description I have been asked to prepare a file for evacuation procedures.
Has anyone got something that could point me in the right direction, or documentation that I could use as a format/template.
Also, I am trying to find the BS for emergency signage in student accommadation etc. Can someone give me the web site address for the BS etc.( Taking into account that I am Irish and I havent a clue where to start looking for the BS on signage)
Many thanks,
Jim

Not quite sure what you mean by an evacuation file? Do you mean a file that contains the procedure for evacuation or do you mean a file that someone takes with them during the evacuation so that they can "call the roll" or do you mean something else?

As far as signs are concerned, the best way to deal with this is usually to get it done as part of the fit-out contract for the building (might be too late now?). The fit-out will usually include installing a fire alarm system, automatic fire detection and fire extinguishers. This will involve the fitting of certain fire safety signs and it's much easier to get all the fire exit and means of escape signs done at the same time.

If it's too late for this, get a safety signs or fire alarm company to come and quote you for signs - most will do a free survey. Provided you watch out for them obviously "overegging" the pudding by putting extra signs up (the signs should make it obvious where the exits are and what the access to the exits is without the need for a sign on every wall) they usually do a good job, especially if they feel there might be repeat work in it for them. Google gives loads of names - just look for one in the right area.

Folks,
My apologies for not making my posting more clear.
The designer is putting this together already but because this is the first venture of this kind for my employer he wants me to ensure that all bases are covered.
The company I work for in Ireland usually deals with steel and cladding and this is the first time a project of this kind was undertaken. I have been asked by the administrator of the building to put together a folder for each apartment ni the event of an emergency.
We already have a Mechanical & Electrical consultant that will deal with the usual appliances etc in the complex.
Again, my apologies if I was not clear.
I suppose I am looking for documentation that would enhance the already prepared file/folder
