Posted By Adam Jackson I'm looking for information on possible harmful effects of shift work and work patterns which research may have shown to be particularly hard on the individuals. Does anyone have any pointers to useful articles?
(I've trawled through the HSE Direct site but come up blank, but then again as that site was designed by intoxicated baboons masquerading as web-designers finding anything useful on there is a matter of luck!).

Posted By Debbie Walker I can't remember how I found this but there is a paper available on the web from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry called "24/7 health effects: shift and night working an employers guide" which may help.

Posted By peter gotch The paper which Debbie refers to is at http://www.nhsplus.nhs.uk/updates/nightShift.docThe Swedes did lots of research about eg reverse continental shifts in approx late 60s, early 70s. Concluded some people better suited to permanent nights than cyclic shift patterns. Peter
