Posted By David Mee Hi there, As a rule the PAT testing of any power tool regardless of phase or voltage would be advisable on a regular basis and before first use. I would suggest referring to your company policy or your clients company policy on this matter. 110v is a proffered option where available (ie. There is no excuse to use a 240v drill on a construction site as 110v is mandatory & readily available) and may also be a mandatory requirement, depending on where you are planning to use the equipment. Also in choosing 110v over 240v in any event you are limiting the effects of injury should a incident arise that causes you, or others to come into contact with a live surface in connection to the piece of equipment. Obviously certain larger pieces of equipment where for instance the torque required to operate the equipment needs 240v and cannot operate on 110v i.e large diamond drilling rigs etc, they are therefore permitted as there is no viable alternative available, but may be subject to prior approval on site etc.
