Posted By Liam Mc Conalogue Hi All,
I have come across a situation on a construction site where houses currently being built near a boundary wall has left no room for a telescopic forklift to face into the backs of the aforementioned dwellings.
This has left a situation where window sills cannot be lifted using the FLT to the rear and some of these sills weigh in excess 10 stone. They can be brought up to the fronts but this still requires the use of manual handling to actually lift these onto the blockwork- which is not what we want!
Any suggestions to remedy this situation will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Liam

Posted By Ken Taylor This should have been addressed at the design stage and within the pre-tender health and safety plan. Can they be lowered into place by hoist during the build?

Posted By ken mosley Providing the driver has the appropriate training and you have a decent banksman you could consider utilising a fly jib on the telehandler. But I totally agree with the other respondent, it should have been addressed by the designer initially and then by the planning supervisor in the pre-tender H&S plan. This is exactly the kind of situation that CDM is supposed to avoid.
