Hi All. there are also several universities out there where you can under take a Degree in Health and Safety on a part time basis. It all depends on how long you want to take as these last 6 years. I know several people who have acheived this and found it very rewarding.

Another option could be for you to contact Nottingham Trent University who run a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. IOSH treat it on a par with the NEBOSH Diploma and NVQ4 and will enable you to obtain MIOSH.
The structure of the diploma is split into 7 modules, including a number of written assignments and a final 10,000 word dissertation.
Various Local colleges run the course as approved course providers but I think there are only a few of these throughout the country.

Hi Marvin
I think it really depends on what type of person you are. If you like the books, studying etc then i would go the diploma route, however if your of the practical mind then i would always recomend the NVQ4 route. The NVQ is geared around you actually applying what your learning therefore if your already working as a Safety Officer then it maybe more beneficial.
I hope this helps
